The Resource Library at The Center for Breast Health

An important part of coping with and understanding breast cancer is education. Our Resource Library, located in The Center for Breast Health, has both digital and printed resources about breast cancer management, treatment and survivorship. The next time you’re in, please stop by!

Lymphedema Therapy

Lymphedema is an abnormal buildup of bodily fluid that causes tissue to swell. It is typically caused by damage to the body’s lymphatic system, resulting from cancer treatment.

If you have lymphedema, a physical therapist is an important part of your medical team. He or she can perform Complete Decongestive Therapy to help you.

Complete Decongestive Therapy is the gold standard for treating lymphedema. It is both non-invasive and gentle, relying on manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging, remedial exercises, patient education, and skin care.
