Cardiac Catheterization

Cardiac Catheterization is a diagnostic procedure designed to evaluate the blood flow into the heart, how well the heart and arteries are working and if there are any blockages. The Cardiac Catheterization Department at Good Samaritan Hospital offers the latest in heart disease diagnostic procedures to inpatients and outpatients, including transesophageal echocardiography and cardioversion. All of our cardiologists are board certified and our Registered Nurses are certified in Basic Life Support / Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

When you come to the Cardiac Catheterization Department, please bring insurance information as well as your physician referral. You will need to be accompanied by someone who can drive you home. Please plan to arrive two hours before your scheduled appointment or 6:30 am if you are the first patient of the day.

You should not eat anything from midnight prior to the procedure. Please follow your physician's instructions with reference to any medication that you are currently taking. Please bring a list of all medications you are currently taking.

The Cardiac Catheterization Department is open from 7 am to 4 pm and is located on the first floor of the hospital. If you have insurance coverage questions, please call 845-368-5022.
