EKG / EEG and various types of cardiac stress testing are used to diagnose heart and cardiovascular disease in patients. The EKG / EEG Department at Good Samaritan Hospital offers the latest in diagnostic cardiology services, including dobutamine and echostress testing, as well as Pediatric EKG to inpatients and outpatients.
Board certified cardiologists and neurologists read EKGs and EEGs. 15 cardiologists, 4 EKG technologists and 3 EEG technologists staff the department. The EKG / EEG Department is affiliated with Westchester County Medical Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Neurology.
When you come to the EKG / EEG Department, please bring insurance information as well as your physician referral. A phone referral from your physician is also accepted, but please bring a written referral if required by your insurance carrier.
Routine EKG / EEG tests do not require any preparation; you can eat and take your regular medicine as required. Stress testing requires that you do not eat anything from midnight prior to the procedure. Your physician will give you instructions about taking your current medicine prior to a stress test.
The EKG / EEG Department is open from 7am to 5pm. EKGs are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergencies. If you have insurance coverage questions, please call 845-368-5022.
