Renal Dialysis Center Affililation and Payment
Serving Rockland, Orange and Northern Bergen Counties
Affiliations
The Frank and Fannie Weiss Renal Dialysis Center is a member of the nationwide Renal Disease Network established by the Health Care Finance Administration. There are also several national organizations that provide information and support (see resource sheet) for patients with kidney disease. Weiss Renal Center offers pre-dialysis education sessions for you and your family to learn about kidney disease, the dialysis process, and the treatment options that are available.
Our Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Department is affiliated with Friedwald House, which is a sub-acute care rehabilitation facility located in New City, New York. The Registered Nurses on staff at Friedwald have been trained by the CAPD staff at Good Samaritan Hospital to perform dialysis exchanges on those patients who require peritoneal dialysis. Our CAPD nurses provide back-up services and on-call coverage for all patients.
Information
Weiss Renal Center publishes a quarterly patient newsletter to provide you with the latest information about kidney disease and dialysis. Educational programs are offered throughout the year on topics related to renal disease such as transplantation, diabetic care, vision problems, Medicare, etc. Weiss Renal Center has a patient education committee with patient representation. The Center holds a summer party and a holiday party for patients, their families and the dialysis staff.
A referral to the Weiss Renal Center by a nephrologist is necessary. If you have relatives or friends visiting the Suffern area who need transient services, contact Patricia Johanson, Operations Coordinator, 845-368-5102. In addition, our social workers are available to answer any questions and can be reached at 845-368-5100 or 845-368-5101.
Many patients are eligible for Medicare based on their renal disability. Medicare will pay for a large part of the cost of dialysis treatment. Supplemental insurance or Medicaid (for those who are eligible) will cover the balance. Social workers can assist you with insurance questions.
