At Good Samaritan Hospital we take Women's Health very seriously. Our highly trained staff of licensed physical and occupational therapists can assist women with a variety of physical concerns.
Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a reduction in the quantity of bone mass. Physical activity can help by increasing bone density. A customized exercise program tailored to your specific needs, can assist with problems such as:
- Weakness
- Decreased joint flexibility
- Decreased endurance
- Poor balance
- Abnormal walking patterns
- Poor posture
- Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia ia a chronic musculoskeletal condition causing widespread pain throughout much of the body. Some of the common complaints that can be helped with therapeutic intervention are:
- Decreased Endurance
- Raynaud's Phenomenon (Pain in fingers or toes when exposed to cold temperatures or stress.)
- Tendonitis
- Bursitis
- Balance disorders
- Back and neck pain
- Decreased ability to perform Activities of daily living
Before and After Pregnancy
Having a child is a wonderful experience but sometimes a mother can be exposed to a variety of discomforts before and after pregnancy. Such problems as:
- Low back pain
- Sciatica
- Muscle weakness
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Postural problems
- Lower extremity swelling
- Difficulty with daily activities
- Abdominal and pelvic floor weakness
- Cesarean incision pain
- Post-Mastectomy
It is difficult enough to deal with the original condition and sometimes there can be other conditions that can cause further discomfort such as:
- Arm weakness
- Limited shoulder motion
- Joint stiffness (Adhesive capsulitis)
- Swelling (lymphedema)
- Scar/incision problems
We, at the Good Samaritan Hospital Rehabilitation Department, can assist you with a variety of services to improve your quality of life. Based on your physician's referral, the physical and occupational therapists will perform a comprehensive evaluation and formulate a treatment program tailored to meet your specific needs.
