At Good Samaritan Hospital we take Women's Health very seriously. Our highly trained staff of licensed physical and occupational therapists can assist women with a variety of physical concerns.

Osteoporosis
Osteoporosis is a reduction in the quantity of bone mass. Physical activity can help by increasing bone density. A customized exercise program tailored to your specific needs, can assist with problems such as:

  • Weakness
  • Decreased joint flexibility
  • Decreased endurance
  • Poor balance
  • Abnormal walking patterns
  • Poor posture
  • Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia ia a chronic musculoskeletal condition causing widespread pain throughout much of the body. Some of the common complaints that can be helped with therapeutic intervention are:

  • Decreased Endurance
  • Raynaud's Phenomenon (Pain in fingers or toes when exposed to cold temperatures or stress.)
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Balance disorders
  • Back and neck pain
  • Decreased ability to perform Activities of daily living

Before and After Pregnancy
Having a child is a wonderful experience but sometimes a mother can be exposed to a variety of discomforts before and after pregnancy. Such problems as:

  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Muscle weakness
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Postural problems
  • Lower extremity swelling
  • Difficulty with daily activities
  • Abdominal and pelvic floor weakness
  • Cesarean incision pain
  • Post-Mastectomy

It is difficult enough to deal with the original condition and sometimes there can be other conditions that can cause further discomfort such as:

  • Arm weakness
  • Limited shoulder motion
  • Joint stiffness (Adhesive capsulitis)
  • Swelling (lymphedema)
  • Scar/incision problems

We, at the Good Samaritan Hospital Rehabilitation Department, can assist you with a variety of services to improve your quality of life. Based on your physician's referral, the physical and occupational therapists will perform a comprehensive evaluation and formulate a treatment program tailored to meet your specific needs.
