Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure: What to Do When Things Go from Bad to Worse

On October 28, 2020, the Liver Transplant Program at Westchester Medical Center is hosting a Live Virtual CME event titled "Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure: What to Do When Things Go from Bad to Worse." Acute on chronic liver failure is a growing problem in the United States, impacting 5% of patients who are hospitalized to address complications of cirrhosis. This lecture will define ACLF, discuss its physiologic basis, and discuss ways of assessing the prognosis of patients with ACLF. It will also review strategies that have the potential to either prevent ACLF or to decrease the impact of ACLF upon the lives of patients with cirrhosis.
