Good Samaritan Hospital Hosts Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

And A Surprise Visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus

SUFFERN, NY – (Dec. 4) On Thursday evening, December 3, Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY hosted a tree lighting ceremony with staff and members of the community, to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.

It was a truly joyous celebration with holiday songs performed by the Tuxedo Park School Choir conducted by Anne McAlexander and accompanied on the piano by the school's other music teacher Alex Wise.

Before the tree lighting ceremony there was an invocation and blessings of the tree by Father Brian Coffey, a chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital. After the lighting, the guests were told about a big surprise by Guest Services Director, Penny Mann.

As the group gathered around the well decorated Christmas tree in the hospital's lobby, a Suffern Police Department vehicle with lights flashing pulled up to the main entrance of the hospital. And, to the delight of the children as well as the adults, out stepped Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The visitors from the North Pole then headed inside to the hospital's lobby to join the reception featuring refreshments including cookies, hot chocolate and apple cider. During the celebration Santa and Mrs. Claus graciously posed for photographs and distributed gifts to the children.
