Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, paid tribute to Michael L. Schwartz, MD, Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County and Harold J. Peterson at its 36th Annual Spring Ball on April 23. At the gala, $410,000 was raised to support Good Samaritan’s Surgical Services Department.
Dr. Schwartz received the Sister Joseph Rita Award for Medical Excellence and Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County was presented with the Good Samaritan Hospital Medal of Honor. This year, The Good Samaritan Hospital Community Service Award, sponsored by Webster National Bank and awarded posthumously to Harold J. Peterson, was introduced. Peterson was Chair of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation from 2015 to 2022.
“Our outstanding honorees serve our community with selfless dedication," said Chair of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation Kevin Kern. “Dr. Schwartz is a gifted and committed surgeon who has practiced here for more than 30 years, and Hatzoloh with its 200-plus volunteers, is the largest non-profit ambulance service in the county. Harold, a dear friend to Good Samaritan Hospital, was an adored and admired legend throughout Rockland County’s non-profit organizations.”
