Dr. Shukla has over 20 years of combined experience in the field of electrophysiology and a national reputation as a leader in the diagnosis and advanced treatment of heart rhythm disorders. This includes atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, bradycardia, genetic rhythm disorders, ventricular arrhythmias, supraventricular arrhythmias and other conditions that affect the heart's electrical activity.
Gunjan Shukla, MD, FHRS, is board-certified in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular diseases. He specializes in cardiac implantable devices and is an expert in treatments of complex cardiac arrhythmias as well as implantation of Watchman devices. After receiving his medical degree from B. J. Medical College, Civil Hospital Medical Center in Ahmedabad, India, he went on to finish his training in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and clinical cardiac electrophysiology with a fellowship at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. To hone his skills in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias, he then performed another year of fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
Dr. Shukla most recently served as the Director of the Atrial Fibrillation Center at Hackensack University Medical Center and Director of the Division of Electrophysiology at Mountainside Medical Center. He is an active member of professional societies including the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology and American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). Dr. Shukla has published numerous research papers in multiple peer-reviewed journals and also participated in various multi-center research trials as a principal investigator. He has a passion for teaching students, residents and fellows. Additionally, he has consistently been recognized as a Castle Connolly Regional "Top Doctor" six years in a row since 2014. Dr. Shukla is an advocate for his patients and his philosophy is to treat each patient as if they were his family member.
